Many of his medals are from relays where he needed his comrades

[edit]

If he were from Portugal or another country where his sport is not very popular he would have fewer medals, because some of his medals were for relays where he needed his comrades, and it is much easier to win relays if your country has many other top athletes in the same sport. The same is true for Larissa Latynina and others. Shouldn't this be mentioned? Olympicdreams (talk) 22:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats not true, in the competitions today its more like that. But Dæhlie won most of his medals on a time when there was mostly individual competitions where you start 1| by 1 running on your own time only. And at the runs where it was not individual there wasnt much tactics at that time in the teams. It is in the later years that the bigger nations do it better, when they have started with more cykling-like runs and tactics between the teams.--83.109.39.199 (talk) 19:49, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well even without relay medals he would have 21 medals which is incredible in itself and he would still have more individual Winter Olympic golds and medals than any other Winter Olympian ever. The relay victories just added to his legend. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.39.6 (talk) 04:08, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's very sad that such a great athlete has a page in such a state. Is there anybody out there who wants to make sure that the great Bjorn Dahlie gets a page worthy of his achievements both on and off the snow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.166.74 (talk) 12:00, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Doping Allegations

[edit]

Is the second paragraph of this section relevant? It does not directly pertain to Bjørn Dæhlie. As a side note, the documentary seems to have been quite widely discredited at this point. Nje1987 (talk) 02:51, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have seen no claims that these tests of hemoglobine levels were standardized or otherwise accurate by anyone who have performed the actual tests. Consistently, FIS and the medical commission of FIS has claimed the tests were inaccurate and not to be trusted, especially not for doping accusations. Nje1987 (talk) 04:11, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the entire section for now due to BLP concerns. See here.--Amadscientist (talk) 07:22, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If any of that is to be returned we should be using English sources if they are available. If sources of equal quality are not available and this is found to be both notable enough for inclusion (I am not of that opinion) and consensus agrees to return it, translations should be provided in the form of a footnote. For the moment we need to establish if these allegaions can be mentioned. As yet, this appears to be clearly a minority viewpoint and per BLP policy is not to be included in the Wikipedia article.--Amadscientist (talk) 07:26, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that got reverted but has since been removed again. I should mention that the entire basis for these claims is a single anonymous allegation. This is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. --Amadscientist (talk) 20:52

pronunciation + IPA

[edit]

Hello! Due to special spelling of the surname, I suggest an audio file of its pronunciation by a native Norwegian user. I also suggest a Norwegian IPA pron. -- Hamid Hassani (talk) 04:59, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
